Transportation Development Act Claim Form
TDA 4.5 Document E(a)

Description of Applicant and Transit System

I. Service and Operations Description

The City of Pleasanton Paratransit Service provides transportation to
PleasantonlSunol senior residents 60 years or older, and to disabled residents of
any age. The purpose of this program is to reduce isolation, increase socialization
and encourage independent living, thereby minimizing the need for
institutionalization and enhancing the quality of life for residents no longer able to
drive or those who do not have a car available to them. This program provides
door-to-door, driver-assisted transportation. A client application is required to
participate in the service.

The Pleasanton Paratransit Service fleet includes one (1) van and six (6) mini-
buses/vans. This demand-responsive service is available Monday through Friday,
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There are six (6)
drivers scheduled on weekdays and two (2) drivers on Saturday. The service does
not operate on Sunday.

The fare structure is divided into two areas of service: (1) In-town service, and
(2) Out-of-town service. Pleasanton residents pay $2.00 for in-town service and
$2.50 for out-of-town service. Residents living in Sunol and the unincorporated
areas of Pleasant on pay $2.50 for in-town service and $3.00 for out-of-town
service. Rider punch cards are sold for $20.00 and $25.00, and are purchased in
advance through the Paratransit Office. Drivers punch the client card according to
the destination. The City of Pleasant on maintains a resident scholarship program
for all residents that meet the Federal Housing and Urban Development (HOD)
income guidelines. Seniors who are eligible may ride at a 50% discount.

Statistical record keeping is done through Schedule Pro, an automated scheduling
and records management software. Records are kept on clients transported,
escorts/guests transported, lift-assisted trips, in-service miles, in-service hours,
cancellations, trip purpose, rides per hour, on-time performance, and denials.
This data is submitted annually to MTC as part ofthe funding requirements.
