CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 93-103 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING BALLOT LANGUAGE ON AN ADVISORY MEASURE ANDESTADLISHING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION WITH THE REFERENDUM PETITION AND ADVISORY MEASURES WHEREAS, pursuant to California Elections Code §5010, the City Council may submit to the voters an advisory question; and WHEREAS, on June 1, 1993, after discussion concerning term limitation for Mayor and Councilmembers, the Council determined to place the matter before the voters as an advisory question; and WHEREAS, on July 20, 1993, Council voted to place an advisory measure concerning term limits for Mayor and Council on the November 2, 1993 special election ballot but requested staff to present to it final ballot language, as well as the policy itself, at its August 3, 1993, meeting; and WHEREAS, also on July 20, 1993, Council adopted a resolution calling for the Kottinger Hills development plan referendum to be placed on the November 2, 1993 special election ballot but deferred establishing procedures in connection therewith until August 4, 1993; and WHEREAS, Elections Code §5013 sets forth the procedures for arguments in favor of or in opposition to any city measure; and WHEREAS, Section 5014.5 of the Elections Code sets forth the procedures for rebuttal arguments. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Ballot Language on Advisory Measure. The ballot language for the advisory measure shall be as follows: "Shall a policy be adopted which limits a councilmember to two consecutive terms of four years each and limits a mayor to four consecutive terms of two years each?"
