SECTION X (Continued) <br /> <br /> Following the close of the advertised period, the City Manager shall <br /> distribute to the Council the resumes and letters of interest and shall <br /> schedule the interviews of the candidates by the Council or its <br /> subcommittee. <br /> <br /> After Council has received the resumes/letters of interest and/or after the <br /> candidates are interviewed, any Council member or Council subcommittee <br /> may make a recommendation to the Mayor as to the appointment. <br /> <br /> ~. At a City Council meeting, the Mayor shall make an appointment to the <br /> commission or board. The City Council shall then vote to approve or <br /> disapprove such appointment. If such appointment receives three <br /> affirmative votes, the appointment shall be approved and the person so <br /> appointed shall assume the office. If the Mayor's appointment is <br /> disapproved, the Mayor shall continue to make appointments until an <br /> appointment receives at least three affirmative votes. <br /> <br /> If no candidate receives three affirrnative votes, the matter shall be re- <br /> advertised for a period of 15 days and the procedure herein shall be <br /> repeated. Any person appointed but not approved by the Council shall not <br /> be eIigible further for that particular. term of offtee or vacancy. <br /> <br />XI. MISCELLANEOUS <br /> <br /> A. Use of Staff For Outside Activities <br /> <br /> Council members shall request research and analytical work or give direction only <br /> to the City Manager, who shall assign staff to provide the requested information. <br /> Requests for staff work from the City Attorney's office shall be directed to the <br /> City Attorney. However, requests for general information, not involving <br /> significant staff time that can be orally provided or ~ ~~, may be <br /> requested from department heads.
