SECTION VII (Continued) <br /> <br /> E. Voting Procedures <br /> <br /> 1. Presence for Vote <br /> <br /> Any member of the Council, once having answered the call of the <br /> roll or having been noted by the City Clerk as being present at a <br /> meeting, shall advise the Presiding Officer prior to leaving the <br /> Council Chambers for the remainder of a meeting. <br /> <br /> A member of the Council, once having answered the call of the <br /> roll or having been noted by the City Clerk as being present at a <br /> meeting, and not excused as herein provided, has an obligation to <br /> vote on each and every matter considered by the Council even <br /> though he or she may temporaffiy be absent from the Council <br /> Chambers. <br /> <br /> The vote on any matter being considered by the Council may be <br /> delayed by the Presiding Officer until all members of the Council <br /> who are present for a meeting and not excused as herein provided <br /> are present at the Council table. <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding other provisions of these policies, no Council <br /> member can be forced to vote. <br /> <br /> A majority of the members present is required to take action, <br /> except ordinances, and appointments <br /> <br /> 2. Electronic Voting <br /> <br /> Council members may cast their votes on an item by activating individual <br /> voting switches near their seats. When all members have voted, the City <br /> Clerk shall display the votes simultaneously on the display panel. <br /> <br /> 3. Silence <br /> <br /> During a collective ~ vote (Ayca °' ,,T ....' silence of any member <br /> denotes an affirmative vote. <br /> <br /> F.
