Resolution No. 94-11 <br /> <br /> As stated by the National Endowment for the Arts, our need to make, <br /> experience and comprehend art is as profound as the need to speak. It is <br /> through art that we can understand ourselves and our potential... and it is <br /> through art that we will be understood and remembered by those who will <br /> come after us. <br /> <br /> Therefore, we encourage the City to accept the responsibility for expanding <br /> our experience with visual art. ' <br /> <br />Section 3: The mission statement of the Art in Public Places Committee is 'To <br /> promote the acquisition of works of public art in Pleasanton that will foster <br /> creativity, engender civic pride, encourage a sense of community and enrich <br /> the lives of our citizens. ' <br /> <br />Section 4: Within the parameters of the above-mentioned mission statement, the Art <br /> in Public Places Committee shall work toward establishing an Art in Public <br /> Places ordinance which will determine funding options for art in public <br /> places, establish guidelines and procedures relative to the selection, <br /> placement and ongoing maintenance and ownership of art in public places <br /> and establish the ongoing roles and responsibilities of the committee once <br /> the ordinance is adopted and the program is implemented. <br /> <br />Section 5: The Art in Public Haces Committee shall be comprised of five members <br /> and an aimmate. One of the members shall be a City Council member <br /> liaison and another member shall be a member of the Pleasanton Cultural <br /> Arts Council. All members shall be residents of the City and shall be <br /> committed to furthering public arts in the community. <br /> <br />Section 6: Members will be appointed to the Committee in accordance with City <br /> Resolution No. 91-91, a Resolution Establishing Procedures for <br /> Appointments to City Boards and Commissions. The current members of <br /> the committee who predate the approval of this resolution shall <br /> automatically be appointed to the committee. <br /> <br />Section 7: The Committee shall meet (monthly) at a predetermined time and place. <br /> <br />Section 8: Committee members shall serve for four year terms with a maximum of <br /> two terms. In the case of a vacancy, appointment shall be made for the <br /> remainder of the retiring commissioner's term. <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
