CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 95-143 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISltlNG A PLEASANTON <br /> YOUTIt COMMISSION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Pleasanton has an active, interested and intelligent youth community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Councfl's actions direc~y affect the entire commnnity, including <br /> Pleasanton's youth; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Pleasanton's youth commnnity is capable of and interested in participating <br /> in a meaningful way in the community's governance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Pleasanton's youth do not have a formal channel of communication with the <br /> City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a formal Youth Commission would give Pleasanton's youth the opportunity <br /> to contribute to the community through participation in the City <br /> government; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: Mission of Youth Commission. The City Council hereby establishes the <br /> Pleasanton Youth Commission, which shall serve as follows: <br /> <br /> The Youth Commission shall act as the "voice" of the youth COmmnnity. <br /> The Commission will be a communication liaison between Pleasanton's <br /> youth commnnity and the Council; research the needs and interests of <br /> Pleasanton's youth; promote an understanding and appreciation of <br /> commnnity affairs among the youth of Pleasanton; and advise the City <br /> Council on youth-related issues. <br /> <br /> <br />
