ATTACHMENT 2

league. Mr. Spi!ler stated last summer there were about 210 kids with 50 to 60 on a waiting
list. He projects 350 participating this year.

In response to a question from Vice Chairman Dove, Mr. Spiller said the layout they use now is
110 x 84 feet. When asked, hc stated hc felt 140 to 160 feet would be adequate.

Vice Chairman Dove felt the needs of the whole City should be considered. He was not fully
convinced in-line is appropriate for this park but feels there is a need for in-line. He felt the
matter should be referred back to the Task Force.

Commissioner Winslow felt if in-line hockey is going to be introduced into the Master Plan, the
matter should be continued to determine the potential impact, etc.

Commissioner Maas stated she did not want to waste time if there is not funds to put an in-line
rink in the park. She would rather spend time with a Task Force looking at other locations
which would better serve in-line.

Commissioner Winslow agreed but felt it might be possible to have a multiuse area with
basketball and in-line, but he acknowledged it needs to be studied to see if it is possible.

Ms. Bengtson stated to obtain a clear vision of what is desired for the in-line facility, it would
be necessary to meet with the in-line skaters, and then staff could make a determination to bring
back to the Commission on whether it would fit into the park.

The Commission requested staff meet with the in-line skaters and then the Task Force, and
schedule a public hearing for the April Commission meeting.

Vice Chairman Dove announced there would be a break at 10:18 p.m. He reconvened the
meeting at 10:2S p.m.

B. Referring to displayed drawings, she
pointed out parking spaces. Another item for the Master Plan was to improve the lighting and
reduce the glare.

She explained seven poles were needed to light the softball fields. To also light the soccer field,
but not at the same time, would be adding an additional pole, for a total of eight poles which she
pointed out on the map.

Minutes
Park and Recreation Commission Meeting
March 9, 1995 Page 10
