Staff will continue to work with the consultants to refine the
project to delete those items that will not compromise park use,
seek cost effective alternatives to proposed improvements, and
determine those items that would be easy to add at a later date
with the goal of a final project that will include the play areas.

PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION

At their March 9, 1995 regular meeting, the Commission adopted a
motion to approve the proposed Master Plan for Pleasanton School
Upper Field. The Commission also directed staff to continue to
seek strategies that would result in the play areas being
constructed as soon as possible.

FISCAL IMPACT

This project is budgeted for $272,000. Approval of the Master Plan
will not in itself result in a fiscal impact. Construction of the
project will result in the expenditure of $272,000. The completion
of the project will not result in increased operational costs other
than the additional hours of use of lights that will be covered by
user fees and the cost of routine maintenance for the added paved
areas.

Respectfully submitted,

Director of Parks and City Manager
Community Services

Attachments: 1.
