Commissioner Sedlak stated the lights on the south side of the diamond cast a shadow on the <br />Abbie hill. He asked if with the proposed lighting there would be less light. <br /> <br />Mr. Zieger responded there will be some illumination to the houses that back up on the Abbie <br />side, but it should not be much greater than a street light. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sedlak stated a resident in the area who was not able to attend the meeting, Mr. <br />Shaw, asked him to pass along his concern that the lights be shielded from his house so that he <br />does not see the glare. <br /> <br />Mr. Zieger stated they can do an excellent job in preventing glare with current technology. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Maas, seconded by Commissioner Winslow, to approve <br />the Master Plan for the Pleasanton School Upper Field Park, subject to staff review. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br /> <br />AYES: Commissioners Maas, Sedlak, Seebach, Winslow, and Vice Chairman Dove <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Winslow stated he agreed with the neighbors and that they would do whatever is <br />possible to have the play area built as soon as possible, and he would be encouraged by <br />participation by groups or the City to see that the Master Plan is done as one project. <br /> <br />A woman in the audience asked if they had any recourse to come back if the lighting is a <br />problem. <br /> <br />Ms. Bengtson stated if there is a much higher level of light in her yard and she feels the project <br />was misrepresented, she could go to the Park and Recreation Commission or the City Council. <br />Ms. Bengtson stated they are doing their best to represent what the project is, and if there were <br />a problem, they would do their best to correct it. <br /> <br />At this time, Vice Chairman Dove changed the order of the Agenda to consider Item 7E. <br /> 7.E. Recommend:at_ion to Provide Cosponsored Status to Classical Philharmonic <br /> <br />Ms. Bengtson stated she and Andy Jorgensen, Senior Supervisor of the Civic Arts Program, <br />could answer any questions the Commission might have. <br /> <br />Commissioner Winslow stated he would like to encourage the group to increase the number of <br />Pleasanton residents on their board, but he does not want it to appear approval is based on this. <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Park and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />March 9, 1995 Page 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
