ATTACHMENT 3

Paseo Santa Cruz Neighbors

To: The Parks and Recreation Commission

Subject: Tennis Park Expansion Plans

As concerned neighbors adjacent to the open space scheduled for the tennis park expansion, we
would !ik~ to express our views to the Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Commission, the City
Council and City Staff.

First, it is critical that the entrance and exit to the park remain outside the populated area of Paseo
Santa Cruz. This ingress and egress can be constructed either in the current parking area off
Va!~ Avenue or in the first block of North Paseo Santa Cruz where there are no residences.
As a precept of platruing, city-wide park's impact on the su~ neighborhood should be
mi6gated. Parents today are fearful of allowing their children to play in their front yards due to
bo& the frequency and speed of travel on Paseo Santa Cruz. Knowingly bringing additional traffic
and congestion into the neighborhood would constitute poor public planning and decrease the
quality of the area.

Secondly, the commission is urged to place public conveniences and paricin~ areas in the vacinity
boldered by Valley Avenue and the first block of North Pa.~o Santa Cruz (before Camino
Segura). Once again, as the park is not a "neighborhood" park, impact to the residences who live
adjacent to the planned facility should not be required to view rest rooms and parking lots from
their from yards.

We look forward to the completion of the tennis complex and park with confidence that the final
plans will provide a tree enhancement not only to the city as a whole, but also to the neighbors who
live in its shadow.

Sincerely,

The Neighbors of the Tennis Park
