ATTACHMENT 5 6C Staff Report Park and Recreation Commission April 13, 1995 Subject: Review and Approval of Proposed Master Plan for Pleasanton Tennis and Ce ...... unity Park, Phase III Project BACKGROUND March 9, 1995, the Park and Recreation Commission held a public hearing on this project. The staff report, Item 6A, March 9, is attached. At that meeting, considerable input was received from the public regarding various program elements under consideration. The approved Master Plan for Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park did not include a facility to meet in-line skating needs. Initial meetings of the Task Force formed to guide the project did not consider in-line skating nor was it an item brought up for discussion. At the January public hearing held before the Park and Recreation Commission, a discussion took place regarding whether this site was an appropriate site for in-line hockey. The consultants prepared three concepts, two of which included in-line hockey facilities, for the review of the Task Force and the Park and Recreation Commission. The Task Force reviewed the three concepts prepared for the project on February 13, 1995. Those attending the Task Force supported Concept C that did not include in-line facilities. When this item came before the Park and Recreation Commission on March 9, 1995, a large group of in-line skaters and parents attended expressing support for including an in-line facility in the project. At the conclusion of the public hearing, staff was directed to meet with the in-line skating group to gather additional information regarding in-line needs. Staff was further directed to meet again with the Task Force to discuss the in-line needs identified at the meeting of the in-line skating group and provide an opportunity for the Task Force to discuss this program element after the needs were clearly defined.
