The hi-monthly performance evaluations shall be made in <br /> writing and shall be conducted by the employeels <br /> immediate supervisor and division commander. <br /> <br /> If a probationary employee is off work due to a leave of <br /> absence, sick leave or disability leave or any <br /> combination thereof for a period exceeding thirty (30) <br /> consecutive calendar days, said employeels probationary <br /> period shall be extended automatically by the length of <br /> said leave. <br /> <br />18.3 Extension of Probationary Period <br /> <br /> The probationary period may be extended once by the <br /> Personnel Officer for a period not to exceed ninety (90) <br /> days in order to further evaluate the performance of the <br /> probationary employee. <br /> <br />18.4 Re~ection of ProbationaryEmployee - Oriqinal Appointment <br /> <br /> The City Manager may terminate a probationary employee <br /> during the probationary period upon fifteen (15) days <br /> written notice without right of appeal in any manner by <br /> the probationary employee. <br /> <br />18,5 Rejection of probationary Employee - Promotional <br /> Appointment <br /> <br /> Any employee rejected during the probationary period <br /> following a promotional appointment or at the conclusion <br /> of the probation period shall be reinstated to a position <br /> in the class from which he/she was promoted. <br /> <br />Section 19. Promotion <br /> <br /> Promotional or open-promotional examinations may be <br /> conducted whenever in the opinion of the Personnel <br /> Officer the needs of the service require. Only employees <br /> who meet the requirements set forth in the examination <br /> announcements may compete in promotional examinations. <br /> <br /> Insofar as consistent with the best interests of the <br /> service all vacancies in the competitive service shall be <br /> filled by promotion from within the competitive service <br /> after a promotional examination has been given and a <br /> promotional list established. <br /> <br /> Upon completion of all promotional testing, the names of <br /> the persons having the highest three (3) scores on the <br /> eligibility list shall be submitted to the Police Chief <br /> for his/her consideration. Should an eligibility list be <br /> established based upon the banding of test scores, the <br /> names of persons on the list shall be submitted by band <br /> to'the Police Chief for his/her consideration. <br /> <br /> -18- <br /> <br /> <br />
