Existing Transportation ConcEtions -- <br /> <br /> 1-680 is a six-lane north/south freeway through the Tri-Valley area. Figure 2-1 shows <br /> interchange locations. High occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes are under construction <br /> between SR 24 in WAh, ut Creek and the county line at Alcosta Boulevard. 1-680 from <br /> 1-580 to Santa Clara County was widened a few years ago and includes sufficient right-of- <br /> way for additional lanes. 1-680 is a designated midor freight route by the Al~,~eda County <br /> CMA, and there are truck ~]imbing lanes over the Sunol grade. <br /> <br /> State Route 84 (SR 84) is an arterial street including First Street and Holmes Street <br /> through Livermore and Vallecitos Read south of Pleasanton. SR 84 diagonally connects <br /> 1-680 to 1-580. First Street has a varied lane configuration and varied land uses along the <br /> length of its corridor. From 1-580 to Portola Avenue, First Street is a six-lane road. From <br /> Portola Avenue to Holmes Street, First Street is a four-lane mad with sidewalks, bike <br /> lanes, and a raised median. (In some locations the median becomes a two-way, left-turn <br /> lane or disappears entirely.) Parking is permitted along some sections of First Street. <br /> Holmes Street also has a varied lane configuration that changes from four lanes with <br /> sidewalks and median, to two lanes with a wide painted median and sidewalk, to two <br /> lanes with no median. The land use varies from light commercial to residential to rural. <br /> Bike lanes are present where the street narrows to two lanes. Vallecitos Road is a two- <br /> lane winding, rural mad that passes through mostly undeveloped farm land and hills. <br /> <br /> I~outes of i~egionol Significance in Liverm ore Area <br /> <br /> Vasco Road is a north/south arterial that is defined as a mute of regional significance <br /> through Contra Costa County and Alameda County to its termination at Tesla Read in <br /> the City of Livermore. Vasco Read is a two-lane road along most of its length, except in <br /> developed areas near Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories where it widens to four <br /> lanes with concrete curbs, bike lanes, and a raised landscaped median. <br /> <br /> Stanley Boulevard is an east/west route that is defined as a mute of regional significance <br /> from its intersection with First Street and Holmes Street in Livermore to its intersection <br /> with First Street in Pleasanton. Stanley Boulevard is four lanes along its entire length. <br /> Bike lanes are continuous along Stanley Boulevard except in the region near Shadow <br /> Cliffs Regional Recreation Area where the bike lanes convert into a two-way bike path on <br /> the south side of the mad. <br /> <br /> First Street and Holmes Street are part of Reute 84 (see above). <br /> <br /> !~outes of !~egional Significance in Reasonton Area <br /> <br /> First Street is a two-lane, north/south mute defined as a route of regional significance <br /> from Stanley Boulevard in the north, to Bernal Avenue in the south. North of donton, <br /> First Street has bike lanes on both sides. T_hrough downtown Pleasanton, First Street has <br /> a center turn lane, one lane each way, parking on beth sides, and sidewalks. <br /> <br /> Sunol Boulevard is a north/south route defined as a route of regional significance from <br /> Bernal Avenue to its interchange with 1-680. South of Bernal Avenue, Sunol Boulevard is <br /> four lanes with raised median, sidewalk, and bike lanes, with adjacent commercial and <br /> <br />Barton-Aschman Associates, Inc. 14 ' <br /> <br /> <br />
