CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Amendment to Pleasanton's 1996/97 Management Compensation Plan <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Amend the City's Management Compensation Plan to <br />establish salary control points for the newly established classifications of chief for operations <br />and planning and deputy chief for fire operations, set new salary control point for the existing <br />classification of fire division chief, and adopt a policy to compensate fire management <br />employees assigned to standby. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: With the consolidation of the fire departments of the cities of Pleasanton and <br /> Livermore, it is necessary to establish salary control points for the new <br /> management classifications of chief for operations and planning and deputy <br /> chief for operations. Also it is necessary to adopt a uniform salary control <br /> point for the management personnel of both cities assigned to the <br /> classification of fire division chief. Additionally, it is necessary to <br /> establish a uniform policy to compensate the management personnel of both <br /> cities assigned to standby. This report recommends the Pleasanton <br /> Management Compensation Plan be amended for this purpose. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council: <br /> <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> Consolidation of the fire services between the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton includes the <br /> establishment of the new management classifications of chief for operations and planning and <br /> deputy chief for operations. The chief for operations and planning will be filled by <br /> Pleasanton's fire chief who will retain the latter title. The control point for deputy chief of <br /> operations and planning will be the $7790 per month, the current control point of Pleasanton's <br /> fire chief classification. The recommended salary control point for the deputy chief is $7,113 per <br /> month. In addition, it is necessary to establish a single salary control point for the management <br /> <br /> SR 96:357 <br /> 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
