On the first pay day in May of each year, managers may be paid for one-half of their <br /> unused administrative leave as of the preceding April 30th. On the first pay day in <br /> November of each year, managers shall be paid for all unused administrative leave as of <br /> the preceding October 31 st. <br /> <br /> Management employees hired during the year preceding November 1 st shall on <br /> November 1 st receive a prorated administrative leave for each full month of employment. <br /> <br />7.7 Leaves of Absence <br /> <br />7.7(1) Leaves of Absence Without Pay <br /> <br /> The City Manager may grant a management or confidential employee leave of absence <br /> without pay or seniority not to exceed three (3) months. No such leave shall be granted <br /> except in writing and upon written request of the employee setting forth the reason <br /> therefor. Upon expiration of a regularly approved leave, the employee shall be reinstated <br /> in the position held at the time leave was granted. Failure on the part of an employee on <br /> leave to report promptly at its expiration or within a reasonable time after notice to remm <br /> to duty shall be cause for discipline. Department directors may grant full-time middle <br /> management and confidential employees leave of absence without pay for not to exceed <br /> one (1) calendar week. Such leaves shall be reported to the personnel director. <br /> <br />7.7(2) Jury_ Leave <br /> <br /> Management and confidential employees called or required to serve as a juror shall be <br /> entitled to leave from his/her duties with the City during the period of such service or <br /> while necessarily being present in court as a result of such call. <br /> <br />7.7(3) Military. Leave <br /> <br /> Military leave shall be granted in accordance with the provisions of the law. All <br /> employees entitled to military leave shall give the City Manager an opportunity within <br /> the limits of military regulations to determine when such leave shall be taken. <br /> <br />7.7(4) Extended Medical Leave <br /> <br /> Any regular or probationary employee who is temporarily disabled from work due to a <br /> medical condition may, upon written request to the Department Head and the Personnel <br /> Director, be granted by the City Manager, a leave of absence without pay for a period not <br /> to exceed three (3) months beyond the exhaustion of any accrued sick and vacation leave. <br /> Upon a recommendation by the Department Head, the City Manager may extend the <br /> leave for up to an additional thirty (30) days. <br /> <br /> -11- <br /> <br /> <br />
