ACTMTIES AND IMPROVEMENTS: <br /> <br /> The Farmers Market continued to grow and attracted many residents on Saturdays, year <br />round from 9 a.m. to I p.m. Entertainment, food tasting and other spemal events aclcled to the <br />excitement of the market. <br /> <br /> Concerts in the park also increased in popularity each Friday evening, May through <br />Labor Day weekend in September. <br /> <br /> Heritage Days was a tremendous success in 1995. Last year was the first year that a <br />promoter worked in conjunc'aon with a committee from the PDA and the Rotary. The PleasanOn <br />Chamber of Commerce also participated with the Heritage Days Bar-JD-que. 1995 was the firs~ <br />year that revenue was produced through the use of the promoter. <br /> <br /> The Frate and Associates of Hayward produced two Antique Faires (May and October). <br /> <br /> August Cruise Night proved to be even more exciting than the previous year. Cruise <br />Night atso allowed PPIE (Pleasanton Parmershi!~ in Educat3on) the opportunity to have a fund <br />raising Bar-b-que. <br /> <br /> The Pleasanton Arch in from of the Areadot Valley Historical Society once again served <br />as the bacl<drop for opening ceremonies of the Scottish Games. <br /> <br /> The 'Taste of Downtown" date was moved eadier in the summer of 1995 and was less <br />successful than prior years. Therefore, the event is scheduled in October of 1996. <br /> <br /> The PDA worked with City staff and Parks and Recreation to develop a bigger and bemer <br />Halloween Cat-Walk calebration. <br /> <br /> 1995 was the first year for a Holiday Victorian Evening that was more successful than · <br />anyone could have planned for. The week following the Chn~ij.as Tree lighting was chosen as <br />the t~me for the Holiday Victorian Evening and will hopefully ecome an annual event. <br /> <br /> The beautification / design committee has initiated a program of securing and <br />seasonal banners along Main Street, Peter's and First Street that bring color and excitement to <br />the downtown district. Brightly colored banners are now in ;>lace Spring and Fall. Heritage <br />Days banners, Seasonal decorations and assorted city banners am scheduled and changed <br />throughout the year. <br /> <br />1995 - 1996 City funding results: <br /> <br /> During fiscal 1995-1996 the PDA was given a grant of $25,000.00 to be used for <br />marketing I promotions. The funding was used to produce; <br /> "The Downtown in Pleasanton" - a brochure of 10,000 copies that is being <br /> distributed to local businesses, City of Pleasanton general offices, City of <br /> Pleasanton business offices, Chamber of Commerce, Tri-Valley Convention <br /> and Visitor's Bureau, local hotels, real estate offices and numerous other <br /> locations.
