Resolution No. 96-69 <br />Page Two <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 9285 of the Elections Code sets forth the procedures for rebuttal <br /> arguments. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: That the City Council sponsored initiative proposing that the Pleasanton Municipal <br /> Code be mended regarding term limitations for mayor and council be placed on <br /> the ballot for the November 5, 1996 Regular Election, a copy of which Initiative <br /> Ordinance is attached to this resolution. The measure shall be designated by letter <br /> by the Alameda County Registrar. <br /> <br />Section 2: The ballot language shall be as follows: <br /> <br /> "Shall an ordinance be adopted to limit a councilmember to two consecutive terms <br /> of four years each and to limit a mayor to four consecutive terms of two years <br /> each?" <br /> Yes No <br /> <br />Section 3: The City Clerk is directed to transmit the initiative to the City Attorney to prepare <br /> an impartial analysis to be placed on the ballot. <br /> <br />Section 4: The City Council authorizes arguments for the initiative to be filed by <br /> Councilmembers Dennis and Pico and authorizes arguments in opposition to the <br /> measure to be filed by Councilmember Karin Mohr. Said argument must be <br /> submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m., on August 15, 1996. <br /> <br />Section 5: The City Council hereby adopts the procedures set forth in Sections 9285 of the <br /> Elections Code regarding submission of rebuttal arguments. <br /> <br />Section 6: The City Council hereby requests the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to <br /> order this election be conducted by Alameda County on November 5, 1996, in <br /> conjunction with the Regular Election being held within the County on that date, <br /> with the actual costs for said election to be reimbursed by the City to the County. <br /> <br />Section 7: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
