City of Pleasanto <br />be moved I~~rward to accommodate the children in the audience who wish to trtake their <br />statements. <br />Chairperson Maas agreed that the public hearing be opened for Item 6.f. before Itetrt 6.a. <br />YUD-38, Lynn Jansen, so the speakers may be heard at a reasonable hour. <br />5_ MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />There were nonc_ <br />6_ PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />Item f6. f._ PRZ-30, City of Pleasanton, was heard at this time. Chairperson Maas indicated that <br />the public hearing would be opened to take public testimony from the youths in the audience_ <br />No staff presentation would be made. <br />f_ PRZ-30. City of Pleasanton <br />Consideration of amendments to G'hapter 1 8 and related sections of the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code to allow the keeping of chickens in designated zoning districts without <br />discretionary review or a public hearing. <br />THE PUBLIC HEAKING WAS OYENED_ <br />Vanessa Kawaihau, 871 Sycamore Road, spoke in support of the changes made to any City <br />ordinance that allows residents to keep chickens. She noted that 40,000-square-foot or larger lots <br />in the Happy Valley Specific Plan were allowed to keep more than 50 fowl. She noted that the <br />term "rooster" or "male chicken" should be expanded to define whether or not anyone may keep <br />capons, which are castrated roosters. <br />Hannah Zarubin, 5007 Muirwood Drive, spoke in support of this application and noted that her <br />chickens were quieter than dogs and were not messy. She added that they ate bugs and were fun <br />and educational to keep for her 4-H projects.
