Nordstrom and The Mills Group <br />Application for design review approval of a phased development plan for the expansion <br />and remodeling of Stoneridge Mall_ Phase I will relocate the existing Nordstrom's store <br />by constructing 1 44,000 square fleet of new retail area, add two restaurants totaling <br />1 5,600 square feet, construct athree-level parking deck consisting of 901 parking spaces, <br />construct various site modifications, and include a variance froth the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Codc to reduce the width and length of the parking spaces for the parking deck <br />firom 10 feet by 20 feet to 9 feet by 1 8 feet Conceptual approval is requested for <br />Phase 2, which includes the addition oi'approximately 15,234 square feet of'infiill retail <br />space, and for Phase 3, which includes the adaptive reuse of the existing <br />161,000-square-foot Nordstrom's store and the location of a new cinema. The subject <br />site is located at 1, 1300 and 1600 Stoneridge Mall Road and is zoned CR~m~ Regional <br />Comtnerci al [Mall]s District. <br />Mr_ Yavan summarized the staff report and described the background and layout of this <br />application. I-Ie noted that there had been concerns about the parking deck and that the direct <br />access going to Stoneridge Mall Road had been eliminated. He described the added landscaping <br />and architectural features and noted that trtore detailed design plans were provided for the <br />Nordstrom's building. Staff supported the horse statue for P.F. Chang's China Bistro. Staff <br />received numerous phone calls in support of a Cheesecake factory and P_F. Chatig's, including <br />in support of the horse statue. Staff believed that Larry Cannon's comments would etiltancc the <br />appearance of the parking deck and noted that it would be an additional cost to the applicant; <br />staff believed the original parking deck design was very well-done. Staff believed the parking <br />deck would be safe, and. that it had been reviewed very closely by the Police Department. A <br />variance would be required to reduce the dirrtensions of the parking space stalls from 1 O feet by <br />20 feet, the typical dimension of a covered parking space, to 9 feet by 1 F3 feet 't'he open, <br />full-sized parking space in the City measured 9 feet by 1.9 feet.
