Future Planning Calendar
Commissioner Blank noted that there were several items that were flagged for future agendizing,
and that they did not yet appear on the Future Planning Calendar. He requested a section in the
Calendar for follow-up items as they are scheduled.
Ms. Decker advised that those follow-up items were tracked on a spreadsheet and added that the
recent calendar has been quite heavy. Those items from April 7 will be agendized as they are
able to be added.
McDonald's Si~naae
Commissioner Roberts noted that McDonald's had installed signs on the play area, and upon
contacting Jeff Bretzing, she was informed that the City was short staffed due to the Assistant
Code Enforcement Officer's retirement
Planner's Institute
Commissioner Roberts advised that she and Chairperson Maas attended the Planner's Institute,
which was very interesting. She had participated in a discussion of how archaic zoning was, as
opposed. to form-based codes. The issue of zoning by right was also discussed.
Chairperson Maas noted that she had noted that the trend was toward use function following
form _
Commissioner Roberts noted. that Pleasanton already did many of the things suggested in the
planning forums.
C=hairperson Maas noted that traffic management ideas included an economic incentive for high
school students to carpool at certain gas stations. Student and new drivers would not be eligible
for this program. Close-up parking at the high schools was also an additional incentive.
Traffic Light Firehouse on Bernal
Commissioner Blank noted that as he traveled on Bernal, the setting sun washed out the traffic
lights; he inquired whether the new signals would also be washed out in direct sunlight.
Mr. Jost noted that the firehouse lights would go from flashing yellow to solid yellow to red; he
would follow-up on the sunlight issue.
Trader Toe's
Commissioner Fox requested story poles for the new signs at Trader Toe's.
8_ MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW/ACTION
a_ Future Planning Calendar
There were none.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 27, 2005 Page 7 2 of 1 3
