27- 1/xecpt as otherwise conditioned, all trees used in landscaping shall be a minimum of l 5 gallons <br />in size and all shrubs a ininin~um of 5 gallons. <br />28. Lardscaping shall be designed to minimize irrigation and runoff promote surface. infiltration <br />where appropriate, and minimize the use of fertilizers and pesticides that can contribute to <br />sWrmwater pollution" <br />a- Where feasible, landscaping shall be designed and operated to treat stormwater <br />runoff hi areas that provide detention of water. plants that are tolerant of saturated soil <br />conditions and prolonged exposure to water shall be specified. Soil shall be amended as <br />rcquired- <br />h- Pla~zt in aterials selected shall be appropriate to site specific characteristics such as <br />soil type, topography. climate, amount and tuning of sunlight, prevailing winds. rainfall, <br />air move rent, patterns of land use, ecological consistency and plant interactions to <br />ensure successful establishn~ent- <br />c- Landscaping shall also comply with City of Pleasanton ordinances and policies <br />regarding water conservation- <br />d_ Structures shall be designed to discourage the occ ~~rrence and entry of pests into <br />buildings, thus minitrtizing the need for pesticides- <br />29- Prier to occupancy, the landscape designer shall certify in writing to the Planning Director that <br />the landscaping has been installed in accordance with the approved landscape and irrigation <br />plans with respect to size, number, and species of plants and overall design" <br />30- No trees shall be removed other than those specifically designated for removal on the approved <br />plans or tree report- "fhe proj act developer shall post cash, letter of credit, or other security <br />satisfactory to the Planning Lllircctor in the amount of five thousat~d dollars ($5,000 for each tree <br />required to be preserved. up to a inaximuni of twenty-five thousand dollars ~$25,000~- "this cash <br />bond or security shall be retained for one year following completion of construction and shall be <br />forfeited if the trees are removed destroyed, or disfigured" For trees that arc removed, <br />destroyed, or disfigured during construction, the applicant shall pay a fine in the amount equal to <br />the appraised value of the subject tree- If the line based on the appraised value of the tree(s) <br />ex coeds the bond air ~~~~, rho applicant shall pay the difference between the bond and the <br />appraised value of the subject tree(,). <br />31 - The project developer shall comply with the recomtricndations of the tree report prepared by <br />"1'raverso Tree Service dated September 6, 2005" The cxi sting pomegranate tree ~Trce No- 20) <br />may he removed at the discretion of the Planning Director to allow another feature be installed in <br />its place such as a fountain or statue.
