<br /> <br />4C <br /> <br />pLEASANTONc <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />February 21,2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR ANNUAL <br />SIDEWALK AND ACCESS RAMP INSTALLATIONS, <br />PROJECT NO. 045005 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at <br />the meeting of February 21, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids and award the contract for the subject project to <br />AJW Construction of Oakland, California, the lowest responsible <br />bidder, for the amount of $81 ,300. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with AJW <br />Construction. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br />contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed <br />$12,195 (15% of the construction bid). <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is <br />recommending award of a construction contract to the low bidder, <br />AJW Construction, in the amount of $81,300. The subject project <br />consists of the construction of approximately 47 access ramps in the <br />northwest section of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />SR 06:055 <br />Page 1 of3 <br />
