Rich Fredette. 3735 OakBrook Court - advised that his family dates back to 1895 in the P1easanton area.
He felt that children would benefit from restoration of the Adobe. Mr. Fredette would also like to see
something done now to start this project, even if it means "Phasing It to Save It."

Kevin Close. 871 Svcamore Road - believes the project should be completed as soon as possible. He
suggested that the City Council be encouraged to move funds from other projects, so it could be
completed as soon as possible.

Heather Rizzoli. Museum on Main. 603 Main Street - Ms. Rizzoli is the Education Director at the
Museum and teaches third grade students about local history. She felt that local teachers needed to have
this project completed to help them learn and teach about local history.

Copies of an email message from Terry Berry, Executive Director for the Museum on Main Street, was
provided to all members of the Commission.

Chairperson Narum closed the meeting for Public Comment at 9:30 p.m.

Commissioner Pentin stated that Pleasanton needs this park, especially since the Bernal Property will
eventually demand a lot of time and money. He felt that any delay in completing this project would
ultimately mean that it wouldn't be completed. Commissioner Pentin believes that this park will be a
"gem." He questioned whether it would be possible to consider fundraising for the project. He suggested
that the Commission send a request to the City Council asking to allocate funds to complete the project
and see what happens. Commissioner Pentin recommended that educators be encouraged to attend the
City Council meeting when this project comes up for review.

Chairperson Narum agreed with Commissioner Pentin's comments. She did not support phasing of the
project.

Mr. Wolfe provided additional information regarding historical grant funds that had been applied for, the
Facilities Fee Plan, and Park In-Lieu funds.

Commissioner Dibiase discussed fund reallocations with Mr. Wolfe. He felt that it was important to
complete the project as soon as possible, since costs continue to grow. Commissioner Dibiase also
suggested that the Commission consider recommending phasing this project. Chairperson Narum was
strongly opposed to phasing and felt it was important to send a strong message to the City Council that
this Commission would like them to consider ways of funding this project so it could be completed in full.

A motion was made by Commissioner Pentin, seconded by Chairperson Narum, recommending that the
City Council consider alternative funding means so the entire Alviso Adobe Project could be completed,
including Park In-Lieu fees and transferring funds from other projects.

ROLL CALL:
A YES: Commissioners Dibiase, Ellgas, Kummer, Pentin, and Chairperson Narum
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes
August 29,2005
Page 7
