ATTACHMENT 1

Tennis court usage report for the
Pleasanton Tennis Park
(July 16th - October 31 '" 2005)

From July 15 to October 15,2005, all tennis court usage was tracked at Pleasantpn
Tennis & Community Park. During this period (102 days), there were 119 open play
occasions (1.1 groups per day) whereby alii 0 tennis courts were full and one or more
individuals were unable to play tennis. 81 (67%) of those situations occurred during
night play (under the lights).

In order to quantify the number of players in a group, we monitored the reservation and
walk-on court usage during the study timeline. In nearly every situation, either 2 or 4
players made up a group. Overall, there was even proportion of singles (2) and doubles
(4) groups. For the purpose of itemizing the number of tennis players at any given time,
we conclude that the median size ofan open play group was 3 people.

Based on the data, it is estimated that 393 people, or 3.3 per day, were unable to play
tennis at Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park at the time of their choosing during the
study period.

During this time, there were two peak playing times that accounted for the majority of
full capacity situations; Monday - Friday from 7:00pm - 9:00pm (65%) and Saturdays
from 9am-12pm (11%).

A breakdown of the "capacity & turn away" occasions are as follows:

July - 25 occasions in II days (2.3 groups or 6.9 people per day)
August - 44 occasions in 31 days (1.4 groups or 4.2 people per day)
September - 30 occasions in 30 days (I group or 3 people per day)
October - 20 occasions in 31 days (.6 groups or 1.8 people per day)

The attached spreadsheet highlights details from each occasion: day of the week, specific
date, unavailable court time, next available court time, court conditions
(lit or unlit) and professional tennis broadcast on TV that day.

Prepared by: Dana Gill, Lifetime Tennis
Tuesday, November 1,2005
