Staff further recommends the appropriation of $92,000 from
the Park Renovation Fund.

In response to concerns expressed at Council meetings regarding the lack of
adequate lighted tennis courts in the community, the City Council requested
that the Parks and Recreation Commission review the issue and report its
findings. Based on the results of a 90-day study of participant use at
Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park, the Commission is recommending
that the Council authorize general court improvements and the installation of
a lighting system for the two (2) tennis courts at Pleasanton Middle School.
This would be a fee-based service and provide added court space for
evening tennis play. The estimated $92,000 for the project, which is also
supported by the City/School District Liaison Committee, is available in the
Park Renovation Fund.
