<br />Memorandum of Understandingfor <br />1-580 Intelligent Transportation/Traffic Operations Systems <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />B. Cities. Alameda County. Caltrans. and LA VT A: The participating agencies that operate and <br />maintain traffic or transit systems have the following responsibilities: <br /> <br />I. Engineering review, <br />2. Operations and maintenance of traffic systems within the agency's own jurisdiction, <br />3. Reviews of traffic signal system, timing plans and participation in its development, <br />4. Construction management (when applicable), <br />5. Cooperate with all MOU participating agencies to develop -traffic operations strategies to <br />move traffic efficiently in the corridor, <br />6. Implementing timing plans and reviewing changes when updates are -implemented, <br />7. Sharing the use of interconnect cable and communications equipment (where available) with <br />nearby jurisdictions to provide cost-effective signal system communications, <br />8. Notify nearby jurisdictions when service interruptions occur that could affect system <br />operations. <br />9. Responding to emergency traffic conditions within each party's jurisdiction, or as agreed upon <br />by a joint response plan. <br />10. Operation ofthe transit system. <br /> <br />C. CMA: The CMA would provide coordination for the following activities: <br /> <br />I. County-wide planning, <br />2. Pursuing funding for future phases, <br />3. Pursuing funding for Operations and Management (O&M), <br />4. Grant management, <br />5. Partnership agreement development with participating agencies, <br />6. Developing necessary agreements, <br />7. Managing the delivery of capital project elements of the program, <br />8. Program administration and management, <br />9. Overall design, engineering, contract administration, <br />10. Coordinating the T AC meetings. <br /> <br />D. Roles of Others: MTC will assist with corridor programming and funding issues. <br /> <br />5. Other Aareements <br /> <br />Other transportation related agreements (maintenance or otherwise) are not modified or affect by this <br />MOU and will remain effective between the signatory agencies. <br /> <br />6. Term <br /> <br />This MOU is in effect as of January 3,2006 and will terminate on December 31, 2010, unless the term is <br />modified by parties to this MOU by way of an amendment. <br />
