This project consisted of the installation of a new sidewalk and access ramps along the
north side of Stoneridge Mall Road between the Safeway Corporate offices and
Embarcadero Court, to improve pedestrian safety.

BUDGET

Funding
Stoneridge Mall Road Sidewalk, CIP No. 995020

(Street CIP General Fund)

$211,250.00

Expenditures
Original Contract
Design Consultant Services
Change Orders

TOTAL

$160,50000
$22,750.00
$15,668.75
$198,918.75

In the existing developer agreement with the Safeway Corporation, Safeway is obligated to
reimburse the City for the sidewalk improvements from their corporate headquarters east
to Embarcadero Court. Upon acceptance, the City will invoice Safeway Corporation for
the full cost of the improvements, $198,918.75.

Change orders were a result of the removal and replacement of an existing backflow
prevention device, which interfered with the location of the new sidewalk, and the
construction of new curb and landscaping to protect the relocated backflow device. The
amount expended for change orders, $15,668.75, was less than the amount of the project
contingency authorized by the City Council when the project was awarded ($20,000).
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize a fmal payment of the retention to Rosas
Brothers Construction in the amount of $8,697.44.

FISCAL IMPACT

This project is expected to result in a minimal increase in long-term maintenance costs due
to additional sidewalk area.

Respectfully submitted,

fi~~

~(j~

Susan Rossi
Director of Finance

~

Rob Wilson
Director of Public Works

Nelson Fialho
City Manager

SR 06:028
Page 20[2
