<br />According to the School District, the tentative schedule indicates that the design <br />should be completed by February 2006; avvard of bid in March 2006; and first phase <br />of construction to occur in April 2006. Absent any vveather issues, phase II should <br />begin in fall 2006. This improvement vvill provide a joint amenity to the public, <br />enabling the School District to utilize the open space more effectively for students, <br />vvhile also enabling recreational use by the general public. <br /> <br />Iron Horse Trail - Iron Horse Trail design has been completed. Ponderosa Homes <br />vvill proceed vvith construction of its segment (Busch Road to Mohr Avenue) in <br />Spring 2006. Bids have been received for the remaining segment (Mohr Avenue to <br />Santa Rita Road), and Council approved avvard of a construction contract in <br />December. Project completion is expected in late 2006. <br /> <br />Environmental A'-Vareness <br />Photovoltaic (PV) Project - Staff is coordinating a meeting vvith interested <br />stakeholders to brainstorm project and/or program options. Options may include <br />public or private PV projects, incentive programs and other related activities that <br />promote PV as an alternate energy source. These options vvill be brought to Council <br />for revievv and discussion in early 2006. <br /> <br />Recycling Programs - In November, the City entered into a contract vvith R3 <br />Consulting to analyze and develop a nevv recycling base year study for the City. The <br />study includes a full analysis and recommendations for recycling efforts in the future. <br />This process is scheduled for completion in late 2006. Another e-vvaste day is <br />schedule for mid-April, and the City continues to fund on an annual basis the Go- <br />Green Initiative for implementation at school sites. <br /> <br />City Services <br />Service Delivery - Initial vvork on the City's comprehensive customer service <br />program vvill begin in January, vvith organizational implementation planned for July, <br />2006. The program vvill be implemented Cityvvide through initial training, refresher <br />courses, and as part of the City's nevv hire orientation process. In the area of <br />development services, vvork vvill begin in early 2006 to explore areas for <br />improvement. Initially, short-term solutions vvill be implemented, follovved by <br />longer-term strategies to enable expedited plan check revievv and permitting <br />procedures for the public. <br /> <br />Public Information <br />Public Outreach - Development of the City's nevv vvebsite vvas completed in 2005. <br />The site is more user friendly and provides more timely and relevant information to <br />the public. Special features include an interactive calendar, nevvsroom, and <br />municipal services section. To augment this information resource, the City is also <br />planning to publish a community nevvsletter in March 2006, follovved by quarterly <br />nevvsletters on an annual basis. The nevvsletter vvill help highlight timely issues for <br />the community as vvell as promote ongoing programs, services and activities <br />provided by the City. <br /> <br />SR 06:022 <br />Page 5 <br />
