<br /> <br />6D <br /> <br />I" ;; <br /> <br />pLEASANTONc <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />January 3, 2006 <br />City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />UPDATE REGARDING CITY COUNCIL WORK PLAN FOR 2005-2006 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Revievv the project activity status related to City Council priority projects that <br />collectively comprise the Council's tvvo-year vvork plan and provide any <br />feedback. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />This past August the City Council adopted a prioritized vvork plan for 2005- <br />2006, follovving the election of Councilmember Thorne. The vvork plan is <br />comprised of 58 separate projects separated into 14 broad goals and <br />objectives. The vvork plan is intended to inform the community of the <br />Council's "shared vision" and to provide the City Manager vvith the policy <br />direction needed to direct City resources, including development of the City's <br />tvvo-year Operating and Capital Improvement Budgets. This report is <br />intended as an informational item only and provides the Council vvith a status <br />update on major projects. The attached exhibit describes in further detail the <br />status of each Council priority. <br /> <br />The purpose of this report is primarily informational for the Council and <br />community. If the Council vvishes to modify the vvork plan or add additional <br />priorities, staff recommends that a mid-term vvorkshop be scheduled in <br />February. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />This past year the Council conducted tvvo vvorkshops for the purpose of prioritizing City Council <br />projects. The process vvas similar to previous priority setting vvorkshops in that the City Council <br />had the opportunity to revievv both existing and potential nevv projects and to prioritize and/or <br />reprioritize these projects in a vvay that meets the Council's expectations. The end result of this <br />process vvas the development of a tvvo-year vvork plan designed to inform the community of the <br /> <br />SR 06:022 <br />Page 1 <br />
