<br />THE CITY OF <br /> <br />-- <br />,.{, ..~,. . <br />-= _.. -, .11' III .;;i;; I . .. <br /> <br />pLEASANTONc <br /> <br />68 <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />January 3, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />MODIFICATION <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br />OF <br /> <br />RESIDENTIAL <br /> <br />PERMIT <br /> <br />PARKING <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the follo"Wing action at the <br />meeting of January 3, 2006: <br /> <br />1 0 Adopt the resolution to modifY the current City of Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code for Residential Permit Parking 0 The modification to <br />the Code "Will eliminate the time of day, day of "Week and time of year <br />restriction 0 <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Residents "With homes along the Santa Rita Frontage Road have been <br />experiencing a significant increase in the parking of vehicles for sale <br />for extended periods of timeo At the November 1, 2005 City Council <br />Meeting this matter "Was heard and a decision "Was made to install "four- <br />hour parking" signs from Francisco Street to Alvarado Street. <br />Direction ~as also provided to staff to meet "With the neighbors fronting <br />Santa Rita Road to establish a ne"W permit parking zone and determine <br />the most favorable time restrictions to be used in the zone 0 <br /> <br />The parking of cars for sale, "Which tends to peak on "Weekends, reduces <br />the amount of parking available for the residents 0 Additionally, the <br />cars parked in the residential area bring un"Wanted loitering and <br />numerous inquiries at the residential homes from interested buyers 0 To <br />restore the availability of this parking to the residents and eliminate the <br />pass-by traffic that is the direct result of the vehicles for sale, Staff <br />recommends installation of a four-hour parking zone and the <br />establishment of a residential permit parking zone that "Will exempt the <br /> <br />SR:06:016 <br />Page I of4 <br />
