c_ Other Matters Initiated
Commissioner Sedlak noted that the Hopyard Center parking lot was packed because of a
baseball game.
A discussion of parking patterns in that shopping center ensued_
Commissioner Roberts noted that the Housing Commission minutes contained a
suggestion that the Plar~ning Commission should adopt goals and priorities requested by
the Council.
Chair Arkin noted that he was a liaison to the Housing Commission, and noted that they
developed a list of 50 - 75 items with a 1-5 priority rating.
Commissioner Roberts noted that she found the elevation for the Hoge Fenton building
on 4900 Franklin Drive, and noted that it did not resemble the final building.
Mr_ Iserson noted that now that the building permits have been issued, somebody made
the determination that the design was close enough.
Commissioner Roberts noted that the change in design was upsetting, and did not like its
appearance or the way it is angled on the property_
Chair Arkin requested a history on that project, and noted that it did not resemble the
approved design.
Mr_ lserson noted that he would look into that matter.
Commissioner Roberts noted that a Trumark Medical building was being constructed on
3601 Santa Rita Boulevard, and realized that was the old Marriott site which would be
used for assisted living.
Mr. Iserson noted that item will be removed from the Future Planning Calendar, because
that application for an office building has been withdrawn.
Commissioner Maas noted that both of the applicants for conditional use permits during
this meeting had already opened their businesses. She inquired whose responsibility it
was to advise those applicants what is necessary before they move in and open their
businesses.
Mr. Iserson advised that the businessperson and property owner/manager would discuss
those issues, and that the tenant would be aware o£ those responsibilities prior to
commencing business_ if staff talks to the applicant beforehand, they are advised of the
need for a conditional use permit. In addition, they would be advised to not sign a least
until the conditional use permit is approved, or to sign it contingent upon being approved.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 9, 2003 Page 13
