Commissioner Roberts noted that she would not like to use the entryway arch on Option A, <br />which was used heavily at the storage facility on I3ernal and Stanley_ <br />Commissioner Sedlak noted that Option B had the potential of opening up the lighting <br />inside the building. In addition, the squareness of the design would enhance the efficiency <br />of interior space use. He expressed concern about the eyebrow arch, grid whether it blended <br />with the 1920's design of Option B_ <br />Commissioner Sullivan believed that Option B had more flexibility from the LEEDTM <br />standpoint, and that achieving a LEEDTM Silver Certification was a very important part of <br />this project. He noted that this project was identified as a City demonstration project for <br />energy, and would like it to remain so_ <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS RE-OPENED- <br />Craig Moore emphasized that he would not want the fire station to blend too much with the <br />neighborhood, and that it should be distinct as a fire station. <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED~ <br />Commissioner Sullivan believed that it would be nice for the neighbors to receive a small <br />elevation of the designs before they were brought back for a public hearing. <br />Kerry Burns noted that everyone who attended the community meeting received a small <br />elevation in the mail~ <br />Fire Chief Stewart Gary noted that he saw Option B for the first time at the meeting, and. <br />liked the design very much. He believed that the design elements, color palette, and fine <br />details should be brought to the next level. He noted that the neighbors had been clear in <br />their feedback, and believed that elements from Option A could be utilized in Option B. <br />I-Ie stated that a silver LEED rating is still the target, but it would depend on cost. <br />Commissioner Roberts thanked the Fire Chief for meeting with the neighbors- <br />b_ East Side Area Work Session <br />Planning Commission work session on potential land use, circulation, and other <br />General Plan issues relevant to the east Pleasanton area- <br />Planning Director Brian Swift noted that this item was originally scheduled for the stunmer <br />of 2002_ He noted that staff was just begiruiing to examine the comprehensive update of <br />the Land.
