ABHOW became sole member of American Baptist Homes of Washington <br />in April 1995. In 2005 a redeveloped Orangewood opened in Phoenix. Arizona (now <br />called The Terraces of Phoenix), managed by ABHOW. The Terraces of Phoenix is <br />controlled by its sole member. Cornerstone Affiliates, a super parent to ABHDW, <br />American Baptist Estates, Inc. (the owner of The Terraces of Phoenix and Las <br />Ventanas Retirement Community in Las Vegas, Nevada, a community which opened in <br />2005 and to which ABHOW provides oversight management services. <br /> <br />ABHOW entered into a management contract in August 1996, to manage Harbor View <br />Manor, a 170-unjt affordable housing retirement community in Tacoma, Washington. <br />The first stand-alone special care unit was built and opened with its first resident in <br />October 1996. The Grove, located on the premises of Plymouth Village, provides <br />residential and day-care services for those with Alzheimer's and other dementlas. <br /> <br />The ABHOW affordable housing retirement communities grew significantly during this <br />same period of time. In 1999, Bellflower Oak Street Manor and Tahoe Senior Plaza <br />were built by ABHOW _ Fern Lodge in Redlands was built and operational In August of <br />2000, along with management contracts for Casa de Redwoods in Redwood City and E. <br />E. Cleveland Manor in Oakland. New affordable housing retirement communities have <br />been built in Oakland (Allen Temple Arms III), Judson Terrace Lodge in San Luis <br />Obispo and The Broadmoor in San Leandro}. Allen Temple IV in Oakland opened in <br />2002 and provides affordable housing for families with AIDS. Two additional affordable <br />housing communities are planned for Daly City, California and a second community in <br />South Lake Tahoe, California <br /> <br />The grovvth of American Baptist Homes of the West is traced through its acquisition of <br />retirement communities, development of new campuses and new and expanding <br />programs for residents and employees and for the communities surrounding the local <br />ABHOW homes. The character of American Baptist Homes of the West Is in its caring <br />for persons, its provision of excellence in management and services and its commitment <br />to its mission statement wherein ABHOW "seeks to enhance the independence, well- <br />being and security" of all the persons it serves. <br />
