The scheduled use of vacation shall be approved in advance by the employee's <br /> supervisor. <br /> B. Except for confidential employees, vacation leaves of less than the employee's <br /> regular workday shall not be deducted from the employee's accrued vacation <br /> leave balance. <br /> C. Management and Confidential employees may not use accumulated leave to <br /> end service prior to retirement or separation from the City, unless authorized by <br /> the City Manager. <br /> 6.3 Sick Leave <br /> 6.3(1) Sick Leave Accrual <br /> A. Each management and confidential employee shall earn sick leave at the rate <br /> of eight (8.0) hours for each month of service to a maximum accumulation of <br /> one thousand, four hundred forty (1,440) hours of sick leave except as follows: <br /> Management and confidential employees may accumulate an unlimited number <br /> of sick leave hours, except, however, hours accumulated in excess of one <br /> thousand four hundred and forty (1,440) are only useful in applying toward <br /> additional years of service under the current PERS "Credit for Unused Sick <br /> Leave ", Government Code, Section 20862.8. Hours accumulated in excess of <br /> one thousand four hundred and forty (1,440) will not be credited as paid time <br /> off. <br /> See Appendix D for policies applicable to fire personnel. <br /> Page 11 of 31 <br />
