Design landscapes that are universally <br />accessible to all user levels and abilities. <br /> Guideline: <br />4.1 Circulation systems should not exceed 5 percent slopes without providing accessibility <br /> features such as ramps, landings and railings. <br />Sustainabilitv Obiective <br />TO IMPLEMENT SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES IN DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND <br />MAINTENANCE THAT WILL UTILIZE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF RESOURCES WHILE <br />ALSO CREATING SUBSTANTIAL NEW RESOURCES. <br />Sustain ability Policy 1: Water. Integrate water quality control features into all open space and <br />public facility designs. <br /> Guidelines: <br />1.1 Natural run-off should be used for onsite irrigation, where feasible. <br />1.2 Natural run-off should be filtered through bio-swales and detention basins prior to draining <br /> into natural waterways. <br />Sustainability Policy 2: Soils. Cultivate living soils at the time plants are installed, during the <br />plant establishment period, and throughout the life of plants to optimize vigorous growth. <br /> Guidelines: <br />2.1 Integrated pest management programs should be implemented rather than relying strictly <br /> upon pesticides to control infestations. <br />2.2 Natural organic amendments should be used for soil fertilizers, whenever feasible. <br />2.3 Green waste from the Planning Area open space should be recycled on-site to help improve <br /> site soil fertility, whenever feasible. <br />Sustain ability Policy 3: Architecture.
