<br /> 68 <br /> pLEASANTONc City Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> November 1st, 2005 <br /> POLICE <br /> SUBJECT APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EXPENDITURE OF <br /> MATCHING GRANT FUNDS FOR THE SECURE OUR SCHOOLS <br /> (SOS) APPROPRIATION <br /> STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The City Council hold a public hearing and adopts a resolution approving <br /> expenditures to match the grant funding offered from the U.S. Department <br /> of Justice SECURE OUR SCHOOLS program funds. These expenditures <br /> will be fully reimbursed by the Pleasanton Unified School District pursuant <br /> to the drafted agreement. <br /> SUMMARY The United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and the <br /> office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) established the <br /> SECURE OUR SCHOOLS (SOS) funding program. These funds, allocated <br /> from the federal Budget, are distributed to select local law enforcement <br /> organizations to support school site security and general security <br /> infrastructure through partnerships between the local law enforcement entity <br /> and the school district. The award requires a fifty percent (50%) match of <br /> which the Pleasanton Unified School District will reimburse the City of <br /> Pleasanton as agreed to in the attachment.
