<br /> " <br /> 4H <br /> \. <br />pLEASANTONc City Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> October 4, 2005 <br /> Economic Development <br />SUBJECT FUNDING FOR TRI-V ALLEY BUSINESS COUNCIL <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Allocate $25,000 to the Tri-Valley Business Council to support regional <br /> economic development programs. <br />SUMMARY For several years, the City of Pleasanton has allocated funds to support <br /> specific Tri-Valley Business Council programs and initiatives. Last fiscal <br /> year, in response to a discussion by the Tri-Valley Council about the focus <br /> of the Business Council's programs, the City of Pleasanton did not allocate <br /> funding. At the guidance of the Tri-Valley Council, the Business Council <br /> has invited the Tri-Valley Mayors and City Managers to sit on an Executive <br /> Roundtable to assist in defining and prioritizing programs to ensure <br /> consistency with the work of each City Council. Given the opportunity to <br /> influence policy and program direction of the Business Council, the City <br /> Council is asked to consider allocating funding in the amount of$25,000. <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Tri-Valley Business Council was formed in 1992 as a non-profit, private sector group of <br />businesses and organizations located in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon and Danville. <br />The Business Council's stated goal is "to assemble, organize and coordinate the talents and <br />resources of the business and professional leadership in the Tri-Valley area for the purpose of <br />assisting the public sector and community in the identification, examination and successful <br />resolution of Tri-Valley issues affecting economic development and the quality of life in the <br />valley." <br />The City of Pleasant on has supported the Business Council's work in the past. In FY 1996-97, <br />the City contributed $5,000 toward the Tri-Valley Economic Vitality Initiative; those funds were <br />SR:05:272 <br />Page 1 <br />
