r ""\
6A
\.
-.'
pLfASANTONc City Council
Staff Report
November I, 2005
Public Works Department
SUBJECT FOUR-HOUR PARKING ZONE ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF
SANTA RITA FRONTAGE ROAD FROM ALISAL SCHOOL
PARKING LOT EXIT TO FRANCISCO STREET.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the
meeting of November I, 2005:
Adopt a resolution to establish a four-hour parking zone on the east side
of Santa Rita Road north of Alisal School along Santa Rita frontage road.
This four-hour parking zone will begin north of the Alisa! Elementary
School exit driveway and extend to Francisco Street.
SUMMARY: Residents with homes along the Santa Rita Frontage Road have been
experiencing a significant increase in the parking of vehicles for sale
for extended periods of time. The parking of cars for sale, which tends
to peak on weekends, reduces the amount of parking available for the
residents. Additionally, the cars parked in the residential area bring
unwanted loitering and numerous inquiries at the residential homes
from interested buyers. To restore the availability of this parking to the
residents and eliminate the pass-by traffic that is the direct result of the
vehicles for sale, the Staff Traffic Committee recommends installation
of a four-hour parking zone.
The Municipal Code sets forth various limited time parking zones and
provides that the City Council, by resolution, may designate a street as
a limited time parking zone. Similar four-hour parking zones have
been established to address the vehicles for sale problem.
SR:05:248
Page I of 3
