BUDGET
Funding for traffic signal maintenance is included in the Public Works Traffic
Division's operating budget. The Traffic Signal Repair by Contract has $160,000
budgeted for the 2005-2006 fiscal year.
Over the last 12 months our current signal maintenance contractor has submitted
monthly bills averaging $l6,loo.00. This monthly invoiced amount fluctuated from
$11,000 to $19,000 depending on the number of service calls received. The new
contract eliminates most of this fluctuation by including the emergency service calls
into the flat rate of $16,335.00 per month.
FISCAL IMPACT
This project results in an annual signal maintenance cost of approximately $200,000 per
year. The Hacienda Owners Association pays for the maintenance of the 29 signals in
the business park, which accounts for 29% of the annual maintenance cost ($58,000)
and Caltrans pays the maintenance on four intersections ($8,000). The City of
Pleasanton is responsible for the remaining $134,000. Current budgeted funds are in
the amount of $160,000 with the surplus funds held in reserve to pay for any
modifications or emergency sign work needed.
Respectfully submitted,
'i2{0~ /~~ ~
Rob Wilson Susan Rossi Nelson Fialho
Director of Public Works Director of Finance City Manager
SR:05:250
