<br /> AGREEMENT FOR PUBLICATION OF LEGAL NOTICES <br />THIS AGREEMENT is entered into this 16th day of August, 2005, by and between the CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON, a municipal cOrPoration (hereinafter referred to as City). and THE VALLEY <br />TIMES, a division of Contra Costa Newspapers. <br /> RECITALS <br />WHEREAS, the City is required by Section 20169 of the California Public Contracts Code to <br />request bids each year for publication of its legal notices; and <br />WHEREAS, a bid was received from one newspaper of general circulation within the City of <br />Pleasanton; the "The Valley Times"; and <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of August 16,2005, the City Council reviewed the two bids received <br />and determined ''The Valley Times" to be the best newspaper to serve the needs of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pleasanton City Council awarded the bid to publish the City's legal notices for <br />the 2005-06 fiscal year to ''The Valley Times". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as follows: <br />1. ''The Valley Times" shall publish all City legal notices based on a format at the rates set <br />forth below: <br /> Six-Column Format <br />a. $0.38 per line for the first publication. <br />b. $0.37 per line for all additional consecutive publications. <br />c. Number of spaces per line shall be 39-43 <br /> Ten Column Format <br />a. $0.24 per line for the first publication. <br />b. $0.23 per line for all additional consecutive publications. <br />c. Number of spaces per line shall be 22-24. <br />2. The maximum number of days that shall elapse from "The Valley Times'" receipt of a <br />legal notice to its first publication shall be two working days. <br />3. Upon completion of publication of each legal notice or other matter, ''The Valley Times" <br />shall execute and deliver to the City two (2) Affidavits of Publication. <br />4. "The Valley Times" shall publish all City legal notices in type not smaller than nonpareil. <br />All headings shall be printed in blackface type not smaller than nonpareil. No matter other than headings <br />shall be printed in blackface type, and no publication shall be set in type larger than nonpareil, except <br />upon written order of the City. <br />5. ''The Valley Times" shall remain a newspaper of general circulation within the City of <br />Pleasanton for the term of this agreement. <br />
