<br /> Chairperson Stark asked the Housing Commissioners if they felt it would be appropriate <br /> for the Housing Commission to send a formal message to the Planning Commission to <br /> state the Housing Commission's position not just for this project but for all future <br /> projects of this nature. <br /> A motion was made by Vice Chairperson Harris, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Whisnand, to concur with stafrs recommendation to not require the applicant to <br /> comply with the affordable housing provisions of the Inclusionary Housing <br /> Ordinance. The motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> Chairperson Stark thanked Mr. Winter for his attendance at the meeting and expressed his <br /> appreciation for his efforts to create more housing in Pleasanton. He requested Mr. <br /> Winter to come back and update the Housing Commission ofthe developments and <br /> progress of this project once it is completed. <br />C. Discussion Regarding the Status of the City's Housing Element <br /> Scott Erickson gave an overview of the staff report. He noted that the Commission <br /> requested information at the June 2 meeting regarding the status of the City's Housing <br /> Element. The Commission reviewed this item at the April 2005 meeting and was <br /> provided with an update at that time. Chairperson Stark requested that the item be <br /> included on the June 16 agenda for an additional update and to enable discussion by the <br /> Commission with its new member, Amy Hodgett. <br /> Steven Bocian described the meeting that recently took place with City staff from the <br /> City Manager's office and the Planning Department and representatives from the state <br /> HCD office. The meeting, which was initiated by the City, focused on discussions about <br /> the schedule for addressing address Housing Element policies and programs the policies <br /> and programs in the Housing Element. During the meeting, staff explained to HCD <br /> representatives that the schedule has been impeded by the General Plan Update that is <br /> currently underway as well as by the Planning Director and City Manager retirements, <br /> recent elections, and other issues. Mr. Bocian noted that staff is currently putting <br /> together information to get back to state regarding the City's efforts to address Housing <br /> Element policies and programs and regain its certification. <br /> Vice Chairperson Harris felt that the City should get the information on updated housing <br /> unit counts and affordable housing sites back to the state as soon as possible in order to <br /> demonstrate a good faith effort toward obtaining recertification. <br /> Chairperson Stark asked if the Housing Element is on anyone else's radar. He noted that <br /> the Planning Commission recently asked the Housing Commission for input regarding <br /> the Ron Winter project on St. John Street. However, the Planning Commission does not <br /> appear to have the same level of activity or interest regarding the Housing Element. He <br /> felt that the Housing Commission might want to consider sending a message to the <br /> Page - 6 - <br />
