THE ClTYOF 4J <br />pL-EASANTON: ,::,t, <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> August 16, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FIRST <br /> STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS FOR UNDERGROUND <br /> UTILITY DISTRICT (UDD 02-01). <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of August 16, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the subject project. <br /> <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the <br /> subject project. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize final payment in the amount of $5,932.75 and the release <br /> of the retention in the amount of $22,853.37 to Richard A. Heaps, <br /> Electrical Contractor Inc., thirty days after filing the Notice of <br /> Completion. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: On October 5, 2004 City Council awarded the subject project to the low <br /> bidder, Richard A. Heaps, Electrical Contractor Inc., for lighting <br /> improvements along First Street. Construction of the project is complete <br /> and is ready for acceptance. Included as part of this project, was the <br /> upgrade of the existing "cobra-head" fixtures to decorative lighting <br /> consistent with the downtown area. The project provided for the <br /> installation of replacement lighting fixtures, replacing old "cobra-head" <br /> lighting mounted on existing PG&E poles. The power poles supporting <br /> the old "cobra-head" lighting fixtures are to be removed upon completion <br /> of the undergrounding of overhead utilities which necessitated the need <br /> for replacement lighting. <br /> <br /> SR:05:212 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
