FOR THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE AND <br /> SERVICES TO UPGRADE THE UTILITIES SCADA SYSTEM <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions at the <br /> meeting of August 16, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Authorize the moving of funding for CIP project # 051015 from the <br /> 2006-07 CIP budget to the current 2005-06 CIP budget. <br /> <br /> 2. Approve the attached agreement in the amount of $245,350 with Tesco <br /> Controls, Inc. for the purchase of software and services to upgrade the <br /> City's Utilities SCADA system and authorize execution of the <br /> agreement by the City Manager. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is used to <br /> monitor and control the operations of the City's water and sewer system. <br /> The main computer system hardware and software are in need of <br /> replacement. The system hardware is technology from 1998, and due to the <br /> system additions, including adding facilities and increased controls <br /> developed for the system, it is necessary to upgrade the hardware speed and <br /> type of computers. The software is also in need of replacement. The system <br /> is based on Windows NT, which is no longer supported by Microsoft. The <br /> software itself is Factorylink version 6.6, which is also no longer supported <br /> by its manufacturer. <br /> <br /> SR:05:237 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
