THE CITY OF 6A <br />pL£ AS&NTON CityCouncil <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> July 19, 2005 <br /> Department of Planning <br /> and Community Development <br /> <br />SUBJECT: PAP-79/PCUP-118/PDR-391 <br />APPELLANTS: Carl Pretzel and Phillip Sayre <br /> <br />APPLICANT/ <br />PROPERTY OWNER: St. Clare's Episcopal Church <br /> <br />PURPOSE: Appeal of the Planning Commission's action approving a design <br /> review and conditional use permit to expand an existing church and <br /> related facilities. The Church seeks design review approval for <br /> Phase I and a conditional use permit for a master expansion plan by <br /> (a) adding to the sanctuary and adding a multi-purpose room (total <br /> addition--approximately 4,945 square feet) (Phase I), (b) building a <br /> new sanctuary of approximately 9,950 square feet and expanding the <br /> existing parking lot (Phase II), and (c) constructing a new <br /> administrative office of approximately 5,000 square feet (Phase III). <br /> <br />GENERAL PLAN: Medium Density Residential <br />ZONING: RM-2,500 (Multiple-Family Residential) District <br />LOCATION: 3350 Hopyard Road <br /> <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION: <br /> <br /> On May 11, 2005, the Planning Commission heard the subject matter, and made the <br /> following motions: <br /> <br /> Commissioner Fox moved to make the conditional use findings as listed in the staff <br /> report and to approve PDR-391/PCUP-118 as recommended by staff, subject to the <br /> conditions of approval listed in Exhibit B as modified by staff.
