3.15. Light and Glare Impacts

Two of the tlxree baseball fields are planned to be developed with lighting for night play.
The largest of the three fields is designed for use by Pony League teams and includes six
light poles measuring 70 feet in height. The second largest field is intended for Little
League play with four 60-foot high poles. The smallest field is currently planned for
daytime informal use.

The following measures are included in the development plans to mitigate the potential
for adverse light and glare impacts on outlying residential neighborhoods:
· All lighted fields are located at least 800 feet east of the nearest neighborhood to
provide a substantial buffer, and per the requirements of the "Initiative to Save
Our Community Park."
· Highly effective light cut-off shields and luminaries are included in the Project to
ensure minimal "spill light." Please refer to page 10 of the project development
plan package and to Attachment-1 of this Initial Study for details.

In addition to baseball field lighting, low-profile lighting is planned along the primary
park trails to help ensure safety and security for park users. Street lighting poles and
fixtures that match the existing Bemal Property standards are also proposed along the
future extension of Plcasanton Avenue.

In view of the above measures, staff feels that lighting and glare impacts will not be
significant.

X
May be Insignificant Insignificant
Significant if Mitigated

YES NO

3.16.
