THE CITY OF 6B
..~
lPL£ ASA:NTONo CityCouncil
Staff Report

July 19, 2005
Planning Department
Parks and Community Services Department

SUBJECT: PUD-46~ City of Pleasanton
Application for Planned Unit Development (PUD) development plan
approval for Phase One of the Bernal Community Park sports fields on an
approximately 13-acre site located south of Bernal Avenue, east of Valley
Avenue, and west of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. Zoning for the
property is PUD (Planned Unit Development) District.

Also consider a Negative Declaration for the Project.

PURPOSE: For the Council to receive public input and consider approval o£PUD
development plans for a 13-acre lighted baseball field complex proposed in
the eastern portion of the Bernal Property.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council: (1) determine that the Project would not have a
significant impact on the environment with a finding of"de minimus
impact," (2) adopt the attached Draft Negative Declaration Resolution for
the Project, and (3) introduce the attached Draft Ordinance approving PUD-
46.

SUMMARY: As a result of the recent "Initiative to Save Our Community Park," the
lighted baseball fields area of the Bernal Community Park "has been given
the highest reasonable priority in development of the Bernal Site," and
therefore, the preparation and processing of the PUD development plans and
construction plans for this 13-acre portion of the Community Park have been
expedited. Project plans have been reviewed by the Community Park Task
Force and the Parks and Recreation Commission, and formally
recommended by the Planning Commission for approval.

SR05:195
Page 1
