Services Department, under the street tree replacement program, will plant new trees at a later <br />date. <br /> <br />Phase 2, roadway reconstruction, consists of the removal of the existing asphalt pavement, <br />stabilizing the existing roadway base with base stabilizer, and placing a new adequate layer of <br />asphalt concrete. Construction cost for this type and size of construction is generally high due <br />to higher costs for mobilization and lack of contractor interest. Therefore, in an effort to get <br />better pricing on asphalt, staff recommends that Phase 2 be combined with the Annual Street <br />Resurfacing Project, CIP No. 045003RS. The Annual Street Resurfacing Project is currently <br />in the final design phase and is scheduled for construction in September, 2005, including the <br />resurfacing of Pleasanton Avenue. <br /> <br />BIDS <br /> <br />Sealed bids for Project No. 045009 were opened on June 16, 2005, with a total of three bids <br />received, ranging from $136,641 to $144,438. The engineer's estimate for the project was <br />$121,032. The lowest bid was received from AJW Construction in the amount of $136,641. <br />All bid documents submitted by AJW Construction were found to be in order. Past work <br />performed by AJW Construction was verified to be satisfactory. <br /> <br />Sealed bids for Project No. 045003CS were opened on July 6, 2005, with a total of two bids <br />received, ranging from $22,580 to $26,060. The engineer's estimate for the project was <br />$24,000. The lowest bid was received from AJW Construction in the amount of $22,580. All <br />bid documents submitted by AJW Construction were found to be in order. Past work <br />performed by AJW Construction was verified to be satisfactory. <br /> <br /> Sealed bids for Project 015031 were opened on June 14, 2005, with a total of three bids <br /> received, ranging from $42,271 to $56,065. The engineer's estimate for the project was <br /> $42,565. The lowest bid received was from Rosas Brothers Construction in the amount of <br /> $42,271. All bid documents submitted by Rosas Brothers Construction were found to be in <br /> order.
