The $346,000 in gas tax funding will come out of the existing <br />Annual Resurfacing CIP project funds. <br /> <br />The resurfacing of West Las Positas will continue to keep Pleasanton's <br />arterial streets at a high standard and reduce overall maintenance expenses. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />MTC anticipates an additional $105 million in federal STP funds will become available for <br />programming in the region. Of these funds, $22.5 million dollars have been reserved for local <br />streets and road projects. Alameda County is expected to receive $3 million of the projected <br />$22.5 million dollars. Based on the funding estimates by CMA for local streets and roads <br />rehabilitation, the City of Pleasanton would be eligible for a maximum amount of $135,000 from <br />the STP Cycle 1 Augmentation Program. <br /> <br />West Las Positas Boulevard between Hacienda Drive and Hopyard Road is in need of roadway <br />surface rehabilitation and is identified under our Pavement Management System to be resurfaced. <br />Since the City of Pleasanton is eligible for the fixed amount of $135,000 for STP Cyclel federal <br />funding, this roadway section would be an ideal candidate for this STP Cycle 1 Augmentation <br />Program. <br /> <br />BUDGET <br /> <br />Project cost estimate, federal funding, and local match needed is presented as follows: <br /> <br />Construction Cost (Estimate) $413,000 <br />Contingency $ 41,300 <br />Construction Support Services (Survey and Geotechnical) $ 5,700 <br />Total Construction Cost: $460,000 <br /> <br />Eligible Federal funds (TEA21) <br />Local Gas Tax (Annual Resurfacing Program) <br />Total Project Funding: <br /> <br />$135,000 <br />$325,000 <br />$460,000 <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the application for federal funds of $135,000 for <br />the subject project and allocate $325,000 from the programmed local gas tax fund out of the <br />City's Annual Resurfacing Program for FY 2005-2006 (CIP No. 055003). <br /> <br />SR:05:178 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
