THE CITY OF <br /> <br />[ L£AS, NTON <br /> <br />6M <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br /> June 21, 2005 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF SPECIFICATIONS, <br />AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR <br />SERVICES <br /> <br />REVIEW OF BIDS, AND <br />CUSTODIAL CLEANING <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at its <br /> meeting of June 21, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Approve the specifications for the project. <br /> <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for custodial cleaning <br /> services to Universal Building Services (UBS) in the amount of <br /> $161,880. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above-referenced contract. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Specifications were prepared for providing custodial cleaning services for <br /> 20 City-owned facilities. Seven qualified bids have been received, and <br /> staff is recommending the award of contract to Universal Building <br /> Services, the second low bidder, in the amount of $161,880. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On July 1, 2001, the City entered into an agreement with Bottom Line Facility Services (now <br />known as Facility Masters) for a period of two (2) years with options to extend for two <br />additional one-year periods. The current contract for custodial services expires on June 30, <br />2005.
