"- John Severini, 433 Sycamore Road, stated that his property is not even shown on the map.
He felt they are discussing an area that is a real gateway for development. He stated that he
is not opposed to people developing their property, but he is opposed to development that
affects the quality of his life and those of his neighbors who do not wish to further develop
their property. He felt they were not just talking about 135 acres, but more like 1,454 acres
in all that could be ultimately affected by the final decision. He was very concerned about
speeding traffic should a road be widened past 22 ft. as he has seen many cars driving
between 40 and 60 mph as it is now. He stressed that he would not want the rural character
of the area to change. He bought his property with the rural atmosphere in mind. He did
not want to see a wider road and anticipated that with bike lanes, etc., it could eventually be
78 ft. wide.

Ron Wacek represented the Mission Park Homeowners Association and said he lives at the
end of San Antonio Street. He stated that they are opposed to seeing the possibility of
Mission Park also being turned into a thoroughfare because of development in North
Sycamore Road. He felt this would also impact those who live on Junipero Street. He
expressed concern that development in North Sycamore would ultimately affect Mission Park
and surrounding areas. In addition, he hoped that should a school in that area finally be
decided upon, that the whole issue be reopened for public discussion.

Wayne Strickler, 857 Independence Court, said he supports the neighbors in Mission Park.
He urged that the Commission approve a plan that would not impact residents of San Antonio
~ Street or Mission Park, but that a collector street be planned to go past the Raley's store.

Donna Thompson, 387 Sycamore Road, said her main concern was that a road would go
through her property and it appeared that it would on the plans. She also expressed concern
that any grading to the adjacent properties would ultimately flood her property.

Bruce Proper, 5788 San Antonio Street, expressed concern that the citizens speak of their
desires but the City does not listen. He knew there was no easy answer, but he could not see
a major thoroughfare going through North Sycamore which he felt would affect San Antonio
Street residents. He stated he is opposed to a street configuration that would affect Mission
Park.

Philiss Cooper, 6525 Alisal, stated that if a school is determined to be necessary she favored
a location on the south side of Sunol Boulevard. She urged staff and the Commission to look
at the "big" picture and consider the impact of a school, development of Lund Ranch,
soundwalls, and new roads.

David Beck, 5888 San Juan Way, expressed concern that with further development in North
Sycamore that water or the lack of it could become a major issue. He was also concerned as
to where the connector streets might be located.

Minutes Planning Commission
September 11, 1991

Page 14

,.

.
